This is a redesign of one of my oldest charters i made up, Moon Monkey. You can see his previous design in my 'Other Digital' folder in my gallery. [link]
I was really determined to change up the way how I render fur so I tried to do something different than what i have done in the past. Usually I just use a dotted brush and smudge the edges to make fur, but I did a little bit of searching here on and found various tutorials. I tried to mix a bit of all of the tutorials I've found to get this result.
I don't know what to make of it but i think it is definitely an improvement from what I've done in the past. Please leave feed back on what you think!!

You represented the texture of fur almost perfectly, and as a result of that, you created a lot of depth. The character's pose and features are interesting. The background and light source are simple, but they do the trick. Try to refrain from shading using a black or lowly saturated, dark colour. Mixing different colours in the shading and lighting layers can do wonders. Do consider to add more detail to things other than the fur.
